We lived in a place veiled in exquisite beauty where we were not allowed to show our fears. We’d dip our insecurities in red dye, but pulled them out as black silk. Wrapped in the silk we felt brave; we felt proud that no one knew what our past colors would reveal about us. We’d parade in the brightest of days and darkest of nights wrapped in our silks, with all our fears draped beautifully off us.
