There was never a time when I did not love you. Even when I hated you, I loved you. I hated you because I love you. I loved you long before we even met. I’d lay awake thinking if someone like you was out there somewhere, making your way to me. And though there were days when I loved you a little less, I have never been tempted to stop.
We lived in a place veiled in exquisite beauty where we were not allowed to show our fears. We’d dip our insecurities in red dye, but pulled them out as black silk. Wrapped in the silk we felt brave; we felt proud that no one knew what our past colors would reveal about us. We’d parade in the brightest of days and darkest of nights wrapped in our silks, with all our fears draped beautifully off us.
